JAMESBURG — Two people are confirmed dead in a borough house fire that started early morning on Wednesday, local and Middlesex County authorities said.

The identities of the two people inside the Sheridan Street home have not been released yet. The cause of death is unknown.

The fire, which started around 3:45 a.m., was eventually extinguished. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Though authorities have not yet released the names of the two people killed in the blaze, CBS New York spoke to Lawanda Kitchen, who said her brother died in the fire and was living in the house that she owns.

She told CBS that he was “a good-hearted person. He loved to have fun. He had a loving heart. He would take anyone in his home.”

The single-family home has extensive damage. No first responders were injured.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sergeant Jason Muller of the Jamesburg Police Department at (732) 521-0011, or Detective Deon McCall of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-3848.
