Missing Middlesex County mom, 5-year-old daughter found in Virginia

A missing Carteret mom and her 5-year-old daughter were found safe at a hotel in Virginia, Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey and Carteret Police Department Director Kenneth Lebrato said in a joint statement on May 4.

Sawatha Ford, 47, and her daughter were reported missing by family members on May 3. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Ford and her daughter left the Union Township area on May 3 at 3:43 a.m. and were headed to the Trenton-Mercer Airport, but never boarded the plane.

Law enforcement said Ford was driving a white 2007 Acura MDX.

The Prosecutor’s Office credited the Carteret Police Department and the New Jersey State Police with the assistance of the Chsterfield Police Department in locating Ford and her 5-year-old daughter.

They also credited finding Ford and her daughter to working with law enforcement centers in multiple states to locate the pair.
