Twenty-seven-year-old Plainsboro resident Kenneth Shindle was charged with two second degree counts of endangering the welfare of a child, one count for engaging in sexual conduct that would impair or debauch the morals of the child and one count for causing harm to the child making her an abused or neglected child, the statement said.

Shindle has been suspended from his tenured teaching job at the high school.

Shindle’s lawyer, Joseph J. Compitello, said Tuesday, according to reports: “Mr. Shindle categorically denies any wrong doing with respect to the teen and is confident that he will clear his name.”

According to the statement, police learned of the alleged conduct after officers “responded to an incident between Shindle and the student on his front lawn.” The nature of the incident was not disclosed.

Their investigation determined that from Jan. 1 through May 7 the Shindle allegedly engaged in inappropriate conduct, which included unsupervised visits at the teacher’s home, with the 17-year old female student, according to the statement.

The investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement authorities ask that anyone with information to call Detective Timothy McMahon at 609-799-2333 or Detective Mark Morris at 732-745-4194.
