MONROE — Registration is open for the township’s annual community-wide fishing derby, currently scheduled for next month.
The derby, open only to Monroe residents, takes place at Thompson Park on Aug. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon.
The derby is open to Monroe children in preschool through 18-years-old and adults. Participants must bring their own fishing rod. Bait, hooks and bobbers provided.
The contest is divided into age-related divisions: preschool to age 4; ages 5 to 7; ages 8 to 9; ages 12 to 13 and ages 14 to 18. Adults, who also have to register, will be in their own division. Children under 13-years-old have to be accompanied by an adult.
