NORTH BRUNSWICK – Police are warning residents to be on the alert for a burglary suspect who has been breaking into homes while people are sleeping.

“At no time has a resident ever been awoken or contacted by the suspect,” North Brunswick police said, about the incidents that have occurred over the past couple of weeks. “There may also be the possibility that he has entered some homes without anyone realizing it, and therefore not reporting it to us.”

“In every instance, the suspect entered and remained in the home while the residents were sleeping,” police said.

Police said the male suspect has taken alcohol and car keys during the burglaries and in “most cases then stealing the vehicle and leaving the area.”

The reported burglaries have so far occurred in the Georges Road/Route 130 area.

“We believe that the same suspect has also committed a few of these burglaries in neighboring towns as well,” police said.

The North Brunswick police remind residents to lock their windows and doors, particularly first-floor windows, overnight.

The department is asking anyone with information to call police detectives at 732-247-0922, ext. 420. All information is kept anonymous.
