SOUTH BRUNSWICK – A major roadway through the township will be closed through Saturday after a pickup truck crashed into a utility pole on Thursday night.

Route 130, South Brunswick police said, is closed in both directions at Route 522. Traffic on Route 130 south is being sent to Route 522 and Route 130 north is being diverted onto Ridge Road.

The accident, according to reports from South Brunswick police, left wires and the pole laying across the roadway.

As a result, motorists traveling around the Dayton and Monmouth Junction sections of South Brunswick should expect delays. Police also say to expect delays on Georges, Ridge and Fresh Ponds roads.

Route 1 and the NJ Turnpike are suggested as alternate routes.

Crews from PSEG are working to fix the utility pole.
