SOUTH BRUNSWICK – The driver of a dump truck that crashed into a home on Aug. 14 has been charged with driving while intoxicated, township police said on Tuesday.
South Brunswick police identified the driver as Donald Epps, 55, of Morrisville, Pennsylvania. They allege Epps, who authorities also charged with endangering another person and 10 additional offenses, had cocaine and fentanyl in his system when the crash happened.
Though not identified at the time of the crash, Epps reportedly slammed into a home on Shelly Road around 4:20 a.m. on Aug. 14. He was trapped in the dump truck for 40 minutes until first responders were able to extract him from the vehicle.
Three people were inside the home at the time, but were not injured, police said.
Epps was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for what police called “serious injuries.”
