SOUTH BRUNSWICK – Aileen Morris would have been approximately 69 years old if she was still alive today.

The South Brunswick resident was murdered at work 30 years ago this week, in a case that still has not resulted in any convictions.

Township police and Middlesex County acting Prosecutor Christopher Kuberiet are renewing efforts to find justice for her family by requesting the public’s help to generate new leads.

Chief Raymond Hayducka was a patrolman at the time and first to respond to the murder scene.

‘Time may have passed, but we know the answers are out there,” Police Chief Raymond Hayducka, who was a patrolman at the time and first to respond, said. “Someone reading this has that one piece of information that can help us catch the killer and they can remain anonymous.”

Morris, 39, was a mother of nine children when on Oct. 10, 1989, at 11:40 a.m., she was found shot to death at the Krauszers Food Store on Alston Road where she worked as a cashier. A customer found her body behind the counter. Reports from the time said some money was removed from the cash register.

“She was always working two or three jobs,” said one of her children, Renee Morris. “There were nine of us ranging in age from 18 to 7 at the time she was killed. She was always helping other people. Our Constable Road home dinner table often had people eating at it because they had nowhere else to go.”

During the investigation, detectives determined her killing happened within a 15-minute span. They interviewed friends, costumers, people who frequented the store, and chased leads around the state, but the case was never solved.

Anyone with information about this cold case is asked to contact Crime Stoppers or call South Brunswick Detective Sgt. Mike Pellino or Detective Rick Delucia at 732-329-4000, ext. 7496.
